Amit Shah Addresses Public Rally at Haridwar, Promises to Give Corruption-Free Government in Uttarakhand

On Saturday, BJP President Amit Shah addressed the ‘Shankhnaad Rally’ in Rishikul Maidan in Haridwar and promised the people of Uttarakhand that BJP will give a corruption-free government in the state. He appealed the public to vote out Congress from power in 2017 state elections.

Amit Shah said BJP will ensure development of Uttarakhand with a corruption-free state government if it wins 2017 elections.

“Now the time has come. Upar bhi BJP hai. Agar Uttarakhand ki janata neeche bhi kamal laati hai toh vikas he vikas Uttarakhand ke liye hai [the BJP is at the Centre, and if the people of Uttarakhand vote the lotus to power here too, the State’s progress will be guaranteed],” Mr. Shah said.

BJP President addressed the rally for 28 minutes. He said BJP is thankful to the people of Uttarakhand for giving 5 Loksabha seats in 2014 elections and helping to form a stable, majority government in the center. He attacked Congress for imposing emergency in the country 40 years back, and said countrymen will never forgive Congress for this act.

Taking a dig at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, Amit Shah said Rahul Gandhi should ask Harish Rawat what he has done for the state in the past 2 years.

“Rahul Baba, don’t ask us what we did in two years, ask your Uttarakhand Chief Minister [Harish Rawat] that question,” Mr. Shah said.

He said sting operations of Harish Rawat’s secretary and other Congress MLAs have clearly shown that the CM is involved in corruption and his MLAs were offered huge money to save the Congress government in the state.

“The money of the people and for the people [of Uttarakhand] is being spent on these ministers.”

“Recently a sting was done on him [Harish Rawat] where he said he would give Rs. 5 crore to each MLA. The money is of the people of Uttarakhand. The people who took Rs. 5 crore are sitting there [in the Rawat government] and those who didn’t are sitting here.”

“Throw away the corrupt government in the 2017 elections. It cannot lead Uttarakhand on the path of progress,” Mr. Shah said.

Haridwar rally was attended by a large number of people, and All BJP MLAs and other workers were asked to ensure that more and more people come to Rishikul Maidan.

During the rally, former CM of Uttarakhand, Vijay Bahuguna, was sitting along with senior BJP leaders, suggesting his bigger role in next state elections.
