This Thai Man was Stunned to see a Monster Monitor Lizard Clinging at the Front Door of His House

Monitor Lizard

Attanai Thaiyuanwong, a Thai man, was left amazed to see a big monitor lizard clinging to his front door after it entered his house.

Attanai posted some pictures and a video of the lizard on Facebook, which have been viewed so far by over 250,000 people, while also receiving thousands of likes and shares.

The clip shows Attanai and his family members attempting to get the animal move out of the way. The lizard is also seen slapping its tail on a glass door. The lizard appears to be about the same size as the door. The video shows Attanai filming the lizard, while other family members speaking to each other.

“(The lizard) is in our house,” the man was quoted saying by Thai news website Coconuts Bangkok.

A woman is then heard saying: “They say if you throw a coin at it, it will go away! It’s like giving the lizard luck and fortune!”

“You should stand next to it, sister. You’re the same size,” the man responds.

“It’s cute!” the woman replies.

“Cute? Has it ever tried to reach the mirror and look at itself or what?” the man then says.

Later, Thaiyuanwong told Coconuts website that the lizard frequently visits his home, and his family members call it Selena, after pop star Selena Gomez.

“It [the lizard] is here all the time. There are even bigger ones!” Attanai told Coconuts.

“We call it Selena after [Selena Gomez] the celebrity my sister likes, because we don’t want to say the word ‘hia’ in our home,” he added.

According to Attanai, the lizard family was living in this area (near a mangrove forest off Sukhumvit road in Samutprakarn province) long before he moved in.

“Aside from Selena, there are many babies, too. We’ve grown accustomed to them, but we’re not that close,” he said.

“Humans have invaded the animals’ habitats so now they don’t know where to go. Not having a home is sad enough, and humans still try to get rid of them. Let’s say we can all live together as long as we don’t hurt one another,” he added.
