Uttarakhand’s Special Task Force Arrests Main Accused who shot a Trader Three Months Back in Haridwar

Uttarakhand’s Special Task Force (STF) has nabbed the main accused, a notorious sharpshooter, who shot a 37-year-old trader in Haridwar three months back.

The accused, Mujahid Khan, was arrested on Saturday from Dehradun.  STF also recovered a 0.9mm pistol and some live cartridges from Mujahid.

On March 6, Amit Dixit (Goldie), who hailed from Saharanpur, was shot by motorcycle-borne men in Haridwar. Preliminary police investigation indicated that this was a case of “mistaken identity”. At that time, Police arrested one of the accused, Vivek Thakur, but Mujahid Khan managed to escape from the city.

According to SSP STF Ridhim Aggarwal, Mujahid Khan is a member of Jeeva gang. There are several criminal cases registered against Mujahid Khan in Uttar Pradesh.

Khan was a former aid of Mukhtar Ansari, don-turned-politician. Khan came in contact with Ansari in 2013-14 in Lucknow jail.

Police also revealed that Jeeva gang was actually looking to eliminate Haridwar-resident Subhash Saini. However, shooters of the gang mistook Amit Dixit for Saini and shot him dead.

Khan had come to Dehradun to murder a trader, but STF had information about him and was able to arrest him from Raipur area in Dehradun.
