Singapore PM Office Launches Online Contest on the Occasion of National Day Rally

Prime Minister Office in Singapore has launched an online contest for the public to attend National Day Rally of 2017. The contest was launched on Wednesday, Jul 26, 2017.

The Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong’s office, in a Facebook post, invited people to submit the photos of a smart device/program that has improved their life in the recent past. Public could also share their thoughts on how Singapore can be a Smart Nation. The photo submitted should have a 100-word caption explaining how that smart device helped in improving their life.

Participants should post the photo on their own page. They must also “Like” and “Follow” the Lee Hsien Loong Facebook page to qualify for the contest.

Submissions should include the hashtag #InviteMeToNDR, and also tag PM Lee’s Facebook page in the post.

The last date for submitting the entries is Aug 1, 2017. Participants whose entries will be selected will be invited to the Aug 20 event, where PM Lee will be speaking, as his “social media guests”.

Contestants should email a link and screengrab of the post to ndr@pmo.gov.sg with details like the contestant’s full name and IC number.

In last year’s speech, the PM said:

“We aspire to be among the leading cities in the world, New York, Shanghai, London, Tokyo, Sydney. One of the shining spots in the world, in human civilization, where people want to be. Because here, you can do great things. A good place to bring up children where our young continue to enjoy opportunities and a better life.”

“At the same time, we want Singapore to be our home, where we belong, where our families feel safe and secure, where we build a compassionate and inclusive society, leaving no one behind.”

PM Lee subsequently went on medical leave after the National Day Rally, so the Leaders’ Retreat with President Jokowi was postponed to November.
