RCMP Investigating Death of Edmonton woman near Sylvan Lake

RCMP is investigating the death of a 57-year-old Edmonton woman near Sylvan lake. The woman reportedly died after sedan collided with a pickup truck at the intersection of Highway 20 and Highway 12 around 5:45 p.m. on Friday.

According to reports, the southbound pickup truck was carrying two people and hit the westbound sedan. The driver of the sedan died as a result of the collision.

The passenger in the pickup truck, who received non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to hospital.

Sylvan Lake RCMP, Sylvan Lake Fire Department, Stars Air Ambulance, and Lakeside EMS immediately responded to the accident.  Traffic on the road was diverted for about 3 hours. Both vehicles incurred extensive damages.

Police has not yet provided the details of woman who died.

RCMP investigation into the accident is ongoing.
