No New Reports of Clashes in Satpuli; minor boy to be produced before a juvenile court on Monday

There are no new reports of communal clashes from Satpuli town in Uttarakhand. According to state police, the 16-year-old minor boy, whose allegedly posted offensive material on Facebook will be produced before a juvenile court on Monday.

On Sunday morning, communal tension gripped the small town of Satpuli. A Facebook post from this boy triggered communal violence in the quaint town of Satpuli, located about 150 km the state capital Dehradun.

According to police, this boy had posted an objectionable picture of Kedarnath shrine on Facebook. The shop belonging to the family of this boy was later vandalized by members of a religious group.

Police force has been deployed in the town. Police reinforcements were sent from Kotdwar. Police has warned social media users to refrain from spreading inflammatory message on the social networking websites.

Satpuli has no prior history of communal tension. Only five Muslim families live in the town.

One local resident of the town has filed police complaint under Section 295 (a) of the Indian Penal Code and Section 66A of the Information Technology (IT) Act.
