Train Services at Dehradun Railway Station Returns to Normal

Train services at Dehradun railway station are finally coming back to normal. On Friday, railway officials announced that all trains that were partially cancelled and were rerouted to Haridwar since April 17 will now return to their normal schedule from Saturday. The announcement means railway passengers now won’t need to go to Haridwar to catch their trains.

Earlier in April, railway authorities decided to reroute 8 pairs of trains (total 16) to Haridwar due to maintenance and construction work at Dehradun railway station. All these trains were originating or terminating at Dehradun. The maintenance of platforms that continued for 40 days caused inconvenience to thousands of commuters, including pilgrims who are currently visiting the state for Char Dham Yatra. The maintenance work is almost complete now, and the station is now ready for normal operation of all trains, including Shatabdi, Ujjaini Express, Madurai Express, Chennai Express, Kathgodam Express, Upasana Express, Link Express, and Okha Express.

Pramod Kumar, Moradabad divisional railway manager (DRM) told Times of India that the tracks were inspected on Friday and now all trains that were rerouted to Haridwar will return to their normal schedule from Saturday.

According to Kartar Singh, station superintendent, work on the tracks is complete, and the only work that remains is giving finishing touches on the platform.

Earlier, normal operation of trains at Dehradun station was to resume from May 23, but partial traffic block was extended till May 26. According to officials, the construction of washable apron in front of platform 3 is now complete. The tiling work and elevator construction is still underway.
