A suspected terrorist is believed to be holed up inside a house in Thakurganj area in Locknow, and exchange of fire is currently going on between the terrorist and the UP ATS team.
There is heavy presence of police personnel in the area and people are being advised to stay indoors.
According to reports, the militant is present inside a house at Haji colony and is firing at security forces. The suspected militant is believed to be connected with the Bhopal-Ujjain train blasts.
At least eight persons were injured today in a blast in the Bhopal-Ujjain passenger train. The blast occurred between 9.30 AM and 10 AM when the train was on its way to Ujjain from Bhopal.
The state of Uttar Pradesh is currently in the midst of an extremely volatile Assembly elections, and the last phase voting is scheduled for tomorrow, March 8. However, security forces have prepared themselves to tackle all situations that may arise from this encounter. The UP police is questioning several suspects at the moment to find out how the militant was able to enter the city.
