Nintendo Switch will be Available in March 2017

Nintendo has revealed further details about its new home console/portable console hybrid that will hit the markets in March 2017.

Earlier in September, Ubisoft had announced that Nintendo Switch is going to put Nintendo back in the race.

The company released a trailer revealing how Nintendo Switch – the latest console from Nintendo – looks and what it can do. The video showed the console in action, featuring a roster of games including The Legend of Zelda, Mario, and Mario Kart.

“We have nothing to announce about the production status of Wii U”, the rep explained.

The console was earlier codenamed Nintendo NX. With Nintendo Switch, the company wants to take gaming on the go with a higher level of depth and competence. The console has been designed to integrate the mobility of a handheld device with the power of a home gaming system.

“It gives game developers new abilities to bring their creative visions to life by opening up the concept of gaming without boundaries”, Reggie Fils-Aime, president and COO, Nintendo of America was quoted as saying in the company’s official blog.

Fumitsu, a Japanese video game magazine, claimed, citing a Nintendo representative, that Switch will not be compatible with Nintendo Wii U disks or cards of Nintendo 3DS. There is no information whether Switch is compatible with mobile games.

The battery of the new console is “mediocre” according to Twitter user, Laura Kate Dale, who also revealed that the screen of Nintendo Switch is multi-touch screen. An anonymous source close to Ubisoft revealed that the maximum battery life would be three hours.

The Nintendo Switch dock is not the main console unit, as confirmed by Nintendo IGN, and provides only TV output and charging. The main unit is the LCD screen.

Switch will support Amiibo – the NFC-enabled figurines which allow players fight specific characters, unlock gameplay mode and do a variety of other things.

Nintendo Switch will be powered by NVIDIA Tegra processor.
