Pictures of Huawei Mate 9 Leaked on Twitter

The Chinese phone company Huawei is working hard on its next smartphone Mate 9, the successor to Mate 8 phablet device that was praised for its powerful battery and other features.

Pictures of new Mate 9 have been leaked online for the first time on Twitter, and the person who posted these pictures is none other than the noted leakster Evan Blass, also known as @evleaks.

Mate 9 is expected to publicly unveiled on November 3rd. The leaked pictures of Mate 9 show its two variants – one variant featuring a dual-edge curved display with no bezels at all.

According to the rumors, the curved-edge Mate 9, codenamed Long Island will feature a QHD 5.9 inch display, an octa-core Kirin 960 processor, 256 GB of storage, 6 GB of RAM, and a dual Leica rear camera set up boasting 20MP and f/2.0 aperture. The curved-edge edition will be available in three color schemes.

The flat edition, codenamed Manhattan, will feature a FHD display but will have similar hardware specifications as the curved edition. It will be a bit less costly, and available in four colors schemes, including gold.

In recent years, Huawei has focused on increasing its smartphone production to establish itself as a major player in the market. Huawei Mate 8 phablet device got a warm welcome around the world for its long battery life and incredible power. In 2015, the company – for the first time – shipped over 100 million smartphones worldwide, and the company is coming up with several high and mid-end devices to expand its product range.

At IFA 2016, Huawei unveiled the Nova and Nova Plus smartphones targeting the budget-conscious younger customers.

With Mate 9, Huawei can expect to provide a tough competition to the likes of Samsung and LG, especially when Samsung is trying to deal with the continuing fallout from its Galaxy Note 7 device recall.
