August 9, 2016: LG V20 to be Unveiled on September 6 in San Francisco

LG has announced that it is going to unveil its flagship LG V20 smartphone on September 6 in San Francisco. The company will also organize an event in Seoul the following day to display the handset.

LG has already sent the press invites for both events, with taglines “Play More” and “The second story begins.”

LG V20 is the successor to LG V10 that was launched in 2015. Experts believe the LG V20 could be among the best Android phones of 2016, and will definitely be a premium handset like LG V10. The phone will be launched with Android 7.0 Nougat. According to Mobile Syrup, LG V20 will be sold in Canada as well as in the US, but there is no news yet about the release of LG V20 in the UK. For LG fans in Canada, it is definitely good news since LG V10 was not officially launched in the Canada.

The UK and Australia were among countries where LG V10 was not officially released.

LG has also confirmed that LG V20 will be the world’s first device to run Android 7.0 Nougat. The new smartphone is expected to hit shelves before the end of September, but that will probably happen only after official launch of Android 7 Nougat by Google. According to experts, there is a good chance that LG V20 will be given a wider launch by LG.

Although LG has not given any detail on features of V20, it is expected that LG’s new flagship device will be similar to the V10 in some regards. A few leaks about the specs coming from South Korea have surprised many people. Phonesspot claims that LG V20 will have steel sides and a silicone skin back similar to LG V10. Android Headlines says the LG V20 will feature a 5.7-inch QHD (2560 x 1440) QHD panel, 4 GB RAM, and a secondary display similar to the LG V10. It will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 820 64-bit quad-core SoC and the Adreno 530 GPU. The phone is expected to have a 21-MP rear camera and 8-MP dual camera setup on the front. According to Sedaily, LG V20 will offer either 32 GB or 64 GB of built-in storage, expandable via a microSD card slot.

LG could offer a big 4000 mAh battery in V20, as per some rumors. According to Sedaily, the battery will charge via USB-C and will offer 320 hours of standby time. The phone is also likely to be equipped with a fingerprint scanner feature.

The LG V20 will probably have no direct rivals assuming that it is launched with unique dual-screen and dual-front cameras. But the phone will definitely have to face competition from some other flagship phones and phablets, including Samsung Galaxy Note 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus.

As earlier said, LG V20 doesn’t yet have an official UK release date or price, but the phone could hit the UK stores in October 2016.
